AI Restarting (server wipe today at 3pm PST)

Well, Adam finally caved to the pressure and is wiping all server data today at 3pm.  Not sure what he hopes to accomplish with a server wipe, but figured I'd pass the information on. 

Anyone wanna go pawn some noobs? lol.

Hmmmm.  I always thought it was supposed to be dramatic change + server wipe = win.  I don't think a server wipe alone serves any purpose.

Well, AI was an amazing shard at one point, and I met some pretty great people there.  Unfortunately, AI has been past its prime for years now.  I think it just might be time to let it go.

Props to Adam for a job well done.

Yeah I think AI really died quite some time ago, it was a lot of fun during its high points.  I'll be extremely surprised if the wipe has any effect other than driving the nail further into the coffin.

Its fairly pathetic. If he was going to wipe the shard he should of done it 2-3 years ago when he had player community support as well as a dev team that could of taken the oppertunity at the same time to revitalize AI.  All I can really say is farewell AI I fought with Adam for years in vain to save you from this distant future, but alas it seems the shadows of the distant future are now upon the present.  Rest in peace.

I talked with Adam yesterday about this, and basically it's a last ditch effort.  He was simply going to take the server offline, but figured a server wipe costs nothing so it was worth a shot.  The few players he had left were obviously asking for one, might as well give them 3 months of what they want before it goes offline.

So I am ashamed to admit I have made a character on AI (couldn't resist when my old pk partner in crime asked me to) after not playing UO for a year or two.  Although I miss all of our sweet sweet chaotic realms systems.

So despite my above words, I'll admit that I did contact Adam and was in negotiations to host AI for free in order to keep it going. Thankfully though it seems population spiked back up, and my offer wasn't needed.

Also, I believe Atticus was trying to get a hold of the AI code base to host it as well and Adam shot him down too.  Was kinda funny, I received ICQ spam from Atticus that was all pro AI saying to come back and that he was trying to host it for ever...  A few days later I got more Atticus spam and he was all bitter and anti-AI saying it was a waste of time.  So I'm guessing his chat with Adam didn't go so well   I was also told that I "fail" for giving up on UO years ago... /shrug.

If you are referring to me I must inform you I'm not Spear, however, I will answer your question. :p
Pop is running around 140 right now although activity is kind of low due to so many people macroing up characters.  It's pretty easy to find pk targets, not as easy to find actual fights.  Not many people really out there looking to mix it up yet.  Floydd, carl+lenny group, pokemon group, that's about it that I've seen.  Haven't really seen any large groups either which is a bit disappointing, some of my favorite fights are when fighting at a gross disadvantage.

Ya I got the e-mail and I actually thought about it for 2 mins.  Then I realized the game itself is dead.  So how is everyone?  its been a while.  I have been swamped at work and at home.  I am finally getting some free time again.  if anything great is going on let me know.

Nothing is going on.  Reviews seem to hint that Darkfall was a flop.  They've had a pretty good world war going on, but the game in general seems to not live up to the hype (like most these days).  I don't know anyone who has tried it personally yet.  And there are no other good games out at the moment.  WoW is getting old, but lots of people are still playing / going back.  I've finally broken that addiction (after clearing all end game content before too many nerfs hit it, except for the newest stuff).  But I've gone back to Eve. 

Waiting to see what Fallen Earth, Jumpgate Evolutions, StarTrek Online, and Stargate Worlds are like.  Also hearing rumors of a new Blizzard MMO, as well as a Fallout MMO. 

Other then that, life is good.  Recently joined the world of the married.  Bought a house.  And getting a dog in a few weeks.

Ya I am still playing WoW.  I felt the same way with the Pre-patch content.  I stopped for 3 months.  Now I am back doing arena in season 6 and working on Uldaur.  Its a great dungeon and I have not finished it with my guild yet.  We have not even attempted 25man yet.  It has some very complex bosses that require great coordination.  Its a good time.  I switched to Azjol-Nerub.
